Hello! Welcome to the December edition of the Silly Street Newsletter, where we bring you the best comedy happening in and around the Willy Street neighborhood.

Winter is always a weird time for comedy. Show producers spend all summer lamenting how the warm weather keeps people from coming to shows—everyone would rather be out soaking up the sun. So, you’d think winter would flip that trend on its head. Nope. Somehow, six feet of snow has the same effect.

Before the snow really starts to fall, here’s a look at the shows you can catch in Madison this month!

Last month, I also started sharing my favorite clips or comedy things from Wisconsin and Madison Comedians. This month is Madison favorite Sasha Rosser’s set from Best of the Midwest last year at Comedy on State.

Comedy at Working Draft

Thursday, December 19th at 7:30pm

The signature show of Silly Street Comedy is back. This monthly showcase takes place at Working Draft Beer Company and is a great place to get warm in the winter months on Willy Street. We always have food trucks, new beer and great comics, so come, eat, and be merry. This month we have Madison legend David Schendlinger headlining, as well as a good group of local favorites, and local favorite who left town, and are now back for the holidays. The line-ups stacked, so come have fun.

The show is FREE, but there is a $10 suggested donation to support the comics. There’s a million ways to support local comedy, so if you can’t support financially right now, that’s ok. The Milk Match at Atlas Improv

Friday, December 20th at 7pm

Every winter, Atlas wraps up the season with a "holiday tradition": Drinking Eggnog. But don’t get too cozy—this isn’t your grandma’s eggnog. It’s gross. Really gross.

Here’s how it works: On Friday, December 20th, at 7 PM, Atlas’s theater sports show cranks up the chaos in a high-stakes competition. Usually, the points don’t matter, but this time they absolutely do. Each round’s winning team picks a vile ingredient to add to the eggnog. The losing team at the end? They drink it.

Past “enhancements” have included pickled egg juice, French onion soup, Tabasco sauce, and even a stick of butter. So… come hungry? Or maybe don’t.

Tickets are $11, with all proceeds supporting Atlas’s space renovations. Join us for a night of cheer, competition, and questionable life choices that may just leave a bad taste in your mouth.

The Silly Street Open Mic

The final Silly Street Open Mic of 2024 is tonight (12/2) at Gib’s Bar at 8pm. If you’re interested in trying comedy yourself, there’s no better place to try it than an open mic. Madison has a great comedy scene and these local open mics are the backbone. Besides the Monday Mic at Gib’s, you could check out:
